Heavy rain floods parts of Ranchi; schools shut for two days
After 24 hours of continuous rain, the district administration has deployed relief teams in low-lying areas.
Continuous rain over the past 24 hours has left several low-lying parts of Ranchi waterlogged. Stretches of road in Harmu, Kadru and Lalpur were under knee-deep water on Monday morning, disrupting the commute.
The district administration has ordered all government and private schools to stay closed for two days as a precaution. Municipal teams have installed pumps to clear the water.
What the administration has done
- Four relief camps have been set up in low-lying areas.
- An emergency helpline will run round the clock.
- Power supply has been suspended in flooded pockets as a precaution.
The weather office has forecast moderate to heavy rain in several districts over the next 48 hours and advised people to stay away from rivers and drains.
